Windows 10 & GTR2

Has anyone upgraded to Windows 10 yet?  If so how does GTR2 run?

Theoretically GTR2 should run OK, but before I upgrade my PC, I would be interested in any feedback regarding GTR2 performance etc.

I'm still waiting before updating, because basicly I still feel very good with Win8.1

I follow a rule: if it's about PC and it's not broken, don't fix it
I saw some people that said they got about 10fps more in GSCEx with Win10.
I'll wait to see where it goes before upgrading. The only thing I really want from it is the Dx12, but I'd need to upgrade my PC first and honestly as I only drive in sims I have no need for Dx12 yet. When Reiza makes their new sim I'll see what to do, but long time to go yet

I'm using Win 10 on my Gaming rig and all 5 installs of GTR2 work and run well, I would say improved graphics and smoothness,
this could be , because I had to use the latest NVidia drivers , which are tied to Win 10 > so thumbs up from me .also Race07.

In the commercial IT world we used to delay any new Microsoft O/S upgrade until they released the first Service Pack, which meant we had time to test all the apps before roll out and Microsoft had time to get all the bugs they missed fixed. I think I may just wait a little longer, even though Marc is giving it a firm "thumbs up".

So I went up from Windows 8 to 10 and the day/night transition isn't occurring no matter what acceleration I set it on

With the last day of free Win10 coming up. I wanted to bump this thread up to see if anyone has any more to add with their Win10 experiences, since presumably a lot more folks have made the jump and have spent some time with it.

I still have Win 8.1, don't really get why people hate it so much, I just click 'desktop' when it starts up to use it like Win 7, and never bothered with the silly smartphone UI. Unless Win10 is somehow able to make racing sims (GTR2, GSC, rF2, NR2003, pCars, AC, GP4, etc..) run better, I probably won't update.

I moved to win 10 days ago and so far it is been a lot better than win 7. Most important was the improvement on rF2.
Only bad side is that I got my email into the Store to download Forza 6 (was curious about how DX12 would run on my less than average PC) and it made it the main account of the whole PC so I had to remove it all, was a bit annnoying.

Hey guys gtr2 works perfectly with windows 10 however i foun that for it to work best fresh installations are required

Bought a new PC and had W10 installed from an OEM disc and have had no problems.  I run all my GTR2 installs in compatibility mode - Windows XP (Service Pack 3) and everything runs OK.  I am not sure if there are any performance gains with W10 , because GTR2 is a very old game with regards to architecture and game performance is linked more to  the operational parameters of  the on-board hardware than the O/S.

My old PC was upgraded from W7 PC to W10, which resulted in numerous irritating small problems, especially the loss of the "Start" tiles for which Microsoft did not seem to have a stable fix.  Eventually resorted to a clean install from the W10 backup disc and it has remained very stable. With all the W7 files being removed, it suggests they may have caused conflicts which resulted in some of the functionality dropping out.

Windows 7 was fine but Windows 10 has definitely improved my framerates for GTR2, rFactor1, iRacing and Automobilista. After you have installed it, disable Cortana and any other W10 features that you don't need or want that might hamper performance.

Get Spy Bot Anti Beacon it allows you to turn off all these options with a click, very usefull as Microsoft tend to reset your options after a while

Latest update to Windows 10 has killed GTR2 for me (almost)

Needed a total re-install of NVIDIA drivers, re-assigning them in NVIDIA settings and now my computer freezes and crashes...

That's weird, I haven't had any issues with GTR2 on Windows 10, regardless of updates.

I would be keen to hear if anyone has had issues with the very latest w 10 update. I have a day ago installed it and now have to run gtr2 in win xp sp3 mode whereas before it wasn't necessary at all. Now because of the compatible mode the location of the trace file has reverted to "E:\GTR 2\UserData\LOG\trace.txt" instead of the gtr2 folder in documents

It's running okay for me, but I haven't had an update since last week.
I'm running version 10.0.15063 currently.

Did the Win10 Creators Fall Update yesterday, without any Problems so far.
