Wtcc / Vtcc mod windows

Wtcc / Vtcc mod windows
In the process of making my own Honda skin for a league we are starting up and cannot figure out how to save the window file (s) correctly. I just want to change the car number and driver name, but it doesn't come out right.( they are either invisible or just black) I thought I had read some instructions on doing this but for the life of me cannot find that page again. I have Photoshop CS6 and the DDS plugin, am able to create my new paint and save it correctly, any help would be grateful. Thanks garrett1127

Re: Wtcc / Vtcc mod windows
You need to modify your alpha channel as well and make sure that it corresponds with your normal layers. Alpha channel is only in grayscale and shows the level of transparency with white being non-transparent all the way to black which is completely see-through.
Also make sure to save as DXT5 Interpolated alpha.

Have been doing that
I've been doing that, taking the psd file, making my changes to the numbers, name, saving as a jpeg, opening that in CS6, creating the new alpha layer in the channels tab (but this alpha layer doesn't look like the one on other window files,) saving it with the dds plug-in at DXT5 option, still get the same outcome. Any ideas as to what I'm doing wrong. Don't quite understand what your saying here: modify your alpha channel as well and make sure that it corresponds with your normal layers.......Also thanks for your reply.

Re: Wtcc / Vtcc mod windows
Why are you saving it as a jpeg? That seems like a redundant step and is probably messing you up because you now lost the alpha channel that was in the psd template if it had one.
What I meant be making sure it corresponds is that the transparency is the same as what you have painted. So if you changed the number the transparency might still have the old name and number there and will look weird in game.

Thanks for all the reply's, I finally figured it out, you were right, saving as jpeg lost the alpha, so I saved it as a tga, then converted it to the dds file. All worked out great.

Why are you saving it as something else before saving it as a dds? Why not just save from the psd to dds.
