Re: IMSA LMP1 Project
I'm building this more as an offline championship, so I guess the IMSA system might be better like you said. But if a league wants to use the mod, they can always change it

The good old 20-15-12... seems the best so far as it was there for so many years and even these days secondary racing events use them as points scoring, so mate go for them as they seem ok

A Lizard...
The art cars may still come, this one will be a full season entry though.

Right now however I'm working on bringing the Marek ingame. That will make an excellent addition to this mod

That would be these, right?
[You must be registered and logged in to see this image.]
Might do them... though I want a two-car team for Ganassi, so the 02 would be all red with Target sponsorship. Although I really like the red/blue Ganassi cars. Seems a shame to only use those liveries for one race...

I'm really in love with the Danka one, reminds me of far "Intrepid" days
Thank you for your efforts!

Hehe, that's what I was going for with this one
I haven't posted updates for a while, because there's not really much to see... Still working on the Marek and in between I'm playing with engine sounds, physics, talent files... this thing is really becoming a monster.

Re: IMSA LMP1 Project
Is it?
I planned to do a few skins, now I'm doing a full mod... really quite a bit more than I intended.
By the way, could somebody (mod/admin) tell me what permissions I need, if I want to release this in the private section? I'm using cars and sounds from various mods, Grid, Enduracers, etc.
I would prefer to pack all these cars as standalone, so I don't need to give people a huge list of mods to download in order to use this... full credits would be given of course.

Re: IMSA LMP1 Project
Thank you and you're welcome
The 40 cars statement I made at the beginning... oh how naive... it's going to be closer to 60 cars, the total number of skins (including variations) is already into triple figures... driver helmets are in progress, so are the physics, talent files...
I've been a bit busy with real life aswell, so progress has been slower than I thought. But this is still very much alive!

Looking good mate, looking good
If by any chance you slip into 100 liveries don´t worry

Re: IMSA LMP1 Project
I'm past 100 already
Think about it... I currently have 27 entries that will do the full season. About 10 of these will change there liveries at least once during the season, so that's 37 skins... let's say 40, some have more than one change.
Then everyone of the full season entries has a skin for Daytona, with the Rolex24 stickers and 4 drivers... 67. Then one for Daytona, with 3 drivers, 94. Petit also requires 3 drivers and not all teams have the same extra driver there, let's say 12 need a different skin there, 106.
Then the additional cars that don't contest the full season, it'll be around 20 for Daytona (126 total), 15 for Sebring (141) and, say, 15 again for Petit. That makes 156 different skins. And that's the small variant of the grid, I was actually hoping to have more than 50 entries for Daytona and maybe Sebring too, so the track isn't too empty.
And then there's the European cars that come for Petit, which I haven't even started on yet... so 200 skins isn't totally unrealistic.
Some of these are of course done quickly, only changing the drivers, but taken together, it still takes time.
And that's only the skinning part I can paint a car in 3-4 hours maybe, but fiddling with the physics takes days... right now, the HPD cars are running away with it, which is boring, the Porsches are close behind and the rest are also-rans. Some of the bigger teams like Ganassi will get physics updates during the season, simulating the teams that have the resources working on their cars. Engine upgrades are also happening for some manufacturers and I will make the Porsche teams switch to the 2015 car in the later part of the season.
All this because I want to make the championship to feel alive and fluid... and it's fun to actually tell a story this way

Re: IMSA LMP1 Project
What engine are the Porsche's running? Because I was going to suggest, why not take the engine and gearbox from the RS Spyder LMP2 car? That way it would keep up with the HPD's fairly easily. For the Fords? Hmm. Difficult choice. You could take the engine from the Matech Ford GT1, which would render the "Eco-Boost" engine void. But it makes a great sound though, and you can't go wrong with a V8.
European cars? Interesting, looking forward to see what you come up with for that.

I'm going to use the engines from the Enduracers mod, sounds aswell. Gearboxes will probably be 7-Speed for most cars though...
And I'm not taking an engine that someone once wrote "Ford" on and use it as a Ford Engine, same with Porsche, or any of the others... renaming a file is easy
Haven't decided on tyres yet though and that's a biggie. Maybe the tbc from the DBR 1-2 mod, those are the fastest LMP tyres around I think. And they're quite grippy too.

Re: IMSA LMP1 Project
These cars have to be the most beautiful I have seen in my history of GTR2. And you said that you are painting a car in 3 to 4 hours? Wow. I can honestly say this is the mod I am waiting for.......very patiently.
Thank you for your incredible work for the community Sir.

Re: IMSA LMP1 Project
Thanks guys
Knowing that you are looking forward to this is really motivating me to finish it and finish it well, not take shortcuts anywhere.
Yes, I paint a car in about 3-4 hours... if I replicate an existing livery that is, not if I come up with my own designs.
I don't know how long other people take, so I have no idea if this really is fast? But I've been painting cars for 17 years now, so I guess I know a few tricks
