Refresher on Install Please

Hello and thanks for letting me join.

I had GTR2 installed when Simbin first published it. However, that was a long time and several computers ago.

I have the disks (still in the box). After I get the sim installed, I do not recall the proper sequence for the v1100 patch and the no cd patch. Can anyone please tell me the proper sequence for those two patches?

First install 1100 patch and then NoCD patch for 1100 version of game.

Apologies in advance; I need some more guidance please.

I installed GTR2 without incident on an older Alien ware computer the OS system of which is XP Pro. I also installed, as directed above, the v 1100 patch. So far so good.

I cannot get the no cd patch installed with any success. I unpack it with Winrar and I get 2 files - an info file and the executable. I click the executable and enter the required password. However, my game still requires insertion of the disk 1. Not sure where I've made a mistake.

Any suggestions would be welcome and thanks for your patience and advice.

The NO-CD patch is a simple executable that should overwrite your GTR2.exe. There is no password to be inserted, delete that executable as it could be a malware.

When I click the executable in the NO CD patch I have, it asks for dll files. I'll try again and try to post something more specific.

What?  Since when has it required a payment?  Yes, you have to sign up, but you can do it with facebook or other things. I'm pretty sure you don't have to pay anything.

As KK08 stated, there shouldn't be anything to insert (or click), you just paste it into your directory and let it overwrite.

Just go through Racedepartment, it's trustworthy. Less haste more speed......

Gentlemen, I am not making it up....minimum registration is a monthly deal.

Edit: I began to question my own existence and did double check there. No brick bats at recedepartment but when I clicked the registration button the least costly option was a recurring monthly membership. It could be that I mistook some of the banners and ads but I double checked again: only way to access downloads is to register and sign up with a yearly down to monthly membership charge to paypal. Thanks again.

Thanks so much for your kindness and patience. I just bit down and joined there for one month. I dont mind in that the GTR2 has not been published for ages now and running a website with support for such sims is not cheap costing treasure and time.

Hope to install RD's patch this evening. Thanks again.

P.S. If it helps, the patch I downloaded and was unable to install from another site in Germany which enjoys a good reputation but hopefully this one will go much easier.

No CD patch from Racedpartment worked flawlessly.

Now, I have to ask: which is the best full course LeMans addon track these days? Guess I am being a little greedy.

I like Le Mans 2012 version that's available on various sites.

Without testing your kindness, I read through the track section here; looks like a lot of work has been done to bring the track up to standard. Is the track up to spec or an ongoing WIP?
