Template Creation Empty Template Creation

Recently I have been working on creating more skins for the 1964 Cooper T73 mod by BorekS, but creating skins for a car without a template is challenging. So, to make it easier, I would be interested in making a template for the car. After searching Google for a bit, I still have no idea how to do this. So, if anyone knows how to create a template, I would greatly appreciate learning to do it.

If you have 3Dsimed you can export the Body1 texture as a .obj and from there you can open it in either photoshop if you have CC 2014 or later or Blender to get your wireframe.

I dowloaded 3Dsimed, although I am unsure how to export the Body1 texture as a .obj file.

go to the DISPLAY -> MATERIAL FILTER

deselect all materials using BODY1 texture

erase the geometry

goto EXPORT
export the model as OBJ

Dealing with a similar issue and searching for a solution I stumbled over this topic.

I'm trying to make a car from this Racing Rivals model (MR2) and it doesn't have a template, the texture being just a structureless blob of paint:

So far I managed to have the model in Blender and see the wireframe:

What do I need to do now to extract this as a 2D template on which I can do the car paint?
