Interesting RF1 mod
Hi guys, found an interesting RF1 mod and did a quick and dirty convert (rfactortools) to AMS.
There is still a lot to do although , motecs not working, windscreen partly blind (outside view) and so on, but driveable.
Maybe one of our talented modders is willing to take a "deeper look" in to it. My skills are far too small for such things.

It's "interesting" because half those models have been stolen from Ulf.

Imho some of the cars, especially the LMP2s look like they've been converted over from GTR2 / gt-imt... Aston however is clearly based on Triebies work.

no surprise to me:-)
since no other 3d models are avaialble, they take what they can grab.
in the end no new stuff worth to take a look on....

I thought so too, have fixed some things by myself but in the end i deleted the whole stuff,
and to be honest, i use more and more Assetto Corsa, beside rfactor2 + GTR2.
I really don't know what's going on in the modder scene.
It seems to be a fact nowadays, if you put something online, your ownership is "gone"
and other people make money with that.
No wonder that good free mods barely become public or disappear.

Do you texture them yourself or is that the original assets?
well, it´s a 50/50 thing.
because the rf2 model got ripped with Ninja ripper, some textures were missing and i had to make new ones or modify the ones i had.
...and thanks to your support and tipps i am able to do all ao baked mapping by myself now:-)

Re: Interesting RF1 mod
Just curios in the matter of work being stolen.. doing models for myself and those i work with i wouldnt fancy somebody reusing my scratch 3d without permission... but lets say ripped asetts with some modefications? Considering its rf2 asset you cant really claim full ownership for it. What im botherd about is the reason why you guys opted to go private and the main reason is that its becuse your work has been stolen.. It takes tons of effort and patience to make a 3d model and i do respect the ones porting it with quality.. but so far as i understood you taken a model from those rollovers guys and reworked it.. then someone took and sold it for assetto corsa?
Considering rf2 orginally made it then rollovers got it then you and in the end some lousy bastard selling it. Maybe might be me too baised over the importance that imo the 3d modeler author is who the work really belongs too.
I dont think you should take it as hard as many assetto corsa scammers do this to anyone.. and to be fare imo its s397 and rf suffering most as they made it..
you and your mods mean alot for many here.. considering games as ams and rf2 are very quiet in comparsion with ac

Re: Interesting RF1 mod
We are facing the worst modding scenario ever...
1 - Guys makes some nice stuff, in public area other people steal their job and put it for sale.
2 - Now every modder is hidden making private mods and no one knows about it.
3 - Now all the forums are pratically useless.
It's really bad when I enter on 4 or 5 forums I participate and see nothing! In the meanwhile talented guys are spread doing nice things in secret.
Sincerely GTR2/rFactor/AMS scene is gone!
All the friendship and work sharing each other with "free for a good home" feeling is gone!
This is real sad!

Re: Interesting RF1 mod
sad but true!
but to be honest, there always was a huge discrepency of 1000:1 between modders and leechers.
That was all fine for me as long at everybody had fun with it and simply enjoyed the mods.
It all changed with these assholes selling our stuff to those AC fanboys who are willing to actually pay for even the worst sh....
it is so funny to see that my Lexus RCF GT3 is going everywhere and not one of these bastards has the balls to give credit to the original author.
Bye bye free modding, hello dlc payware!
Sign of the times i guess.
Rafa, we are not dead but we have to use the pm more often

Re: Interesting RF1 mod
I mean what did you expect? It's 2019, people are moving forward. Pay mods have recently infested even these old sims and the motto is "pay for this mod if you want to keep downloading mods for this old game".
Free is fine by me but once you charge money for something you did not make (and did not give credit) then you earn yourself a bad reputation among the modders. But the majority of consumers do not care, they will download whatever anyway, they'll pay $30 for a mod for an old game, which has already happened, and go on and support. Another situation is where the guy is releasing free content however asking for a minimum donation amount to be motivated to do this, and this so called content is just being ripped from a mobile game.

Re: Interesting RF1 mod
so this is what you call "moving forward"????
modders are back in their private forums sharing their stuff only with a small group of trusted people.
that is the opposite of moving forward, this is how this scene started 12 years ago:-)

Re: Interesting RF1 mod
May I chime in...
You all know that my point of view has always been share everything with everyone, ask nothing in return and let anyone do whatever they want with your mods.
Well, considering what is happening last few months (or is is years?) I also have some serious doubts.
Unfortunately it looks like the only way to stop those so called modders is to stop releasing our stuff publicly.
And, no I won't switch to AC, I'm still sticking with GTR2. I just won't share my mods publicly anymore.

Re: Interesting RF1 mod
The only solution is releasing a free version for GTR2/rFactor and a payware version for AC (at least you can earn money).
Luckily (or sadly) my GTR2 mods are not so good to be converted to AC.
