you're very welcome. There will be a 2.0 version of the mod in the not too distant future that will feature a few more cars as well as all cars having cockpits and much more realistic and accurate skins too!

Not wanting to sound obnoxious (because it's finished when it's finished), but will the v2.0 version come out sometime in 2016? If not I'll just take the plunge and have fun with v1: after having so much fun with CANAM 66 and 71 for GPL I'm quite tempted and intrigued to see what these beasts can do in GTR2
In any case many, many thanks for your work, it's great to seepeople still willing to spend time doing comprehensive historical mods that pay close attention to detail over various seasons, rather than just simulating the odd vintage car. Reminds me of the golden days of Prototype C and F1 seven for F1 challenge !
P.S. I'm not sure if you know about it, but you can find Ludvigsen's book on CANAM (only covers years 66-71) here. Maybe it can help you in making/perfecting the mod:

I suggest you dive in for now with the 1.0 version as I'm still working on the many updates that are being added to 2.0 currently. I'd like to think 2.0 will be ready in time for Xmas again but I honestly don't know if that will happen just yet. One thing for sure is you won't be disappointed with 2.0...that said, I also hope 1.0 isn't disappointing either lol.

we just wrote to santa to help us testing and getting it ready , so if you get can am 2.0 for Xmas the world will be without Xmas gifts, wich is fair enough!!!

I made nearly all of the seasons for the series. If you need any assistance with how to utilize those files, let me know and I'll help you out. Its really the only way to get the most out of the mod...especially if you want to run the Championships.

I downloaded this moda only now - to revive my GTR2 (I use it on my old PC with Win XP, which I saved for the old simulators like GTL and GTR2) - but I have a problem with this mod. While loading the track I have CTD with some notification about the memory - like some code refers to memory but memory cannot be "read"... In log I have these lines:
vehgfx.cpp 2587: Entered VehGraphics::Init(GAMEDATA\TEAMS\CANAM\LOLA T 260 CANAM\LOLA_T260.CAS)
SteeringAnim 613: External driver body instance not found.
SteeringAnim 679: External driver head instance not found.

Unfortunately I'm not fluent in trace speak. Is it one car at one track or one car at any track? Or...?

It happens all the time in the Race mode - no matter which car and which track I choose. I can't load any race. I think tracks are okay, beacuse loading stops in the ending part - when the cars should be loaded to race. Then I have notification:humpmedumpme wrote:Unfortunately I'm not fluent in trace speak. The instruction under "0x005db76b" refers to the memory at "0x00000000". The memory can not be "read".
- and it tells me to click "Accept" to close the application.
And in log I have this kind of error "SteeringAnim 679: External driver head instance not found." also to other cars than I listed in my previous post. It looks like there's some problem with the external drivers - because I can drive these cars in time trial mode (without AI). I tried different graphic settings to AI cars - no result (constantly CTD - I mean this notification about memory thing).
Now I'll try to download the full version of this mod (including tracks). I don't know if it will change anything, but I want to give it a try...
I'm not sure if I explain it properly - english isn't my native language (sorry).

To be honest it seems your pc isn't strong enough in memory. Also, make sure to apply the 4gb patch.

I guess you are right about my PC - it's really an "old-timer". I reduced the number of opponents to 15 and I finally started the race with Can-Am (max graphic settings). Actually quite new mods for GTR2, Race 07, GTL and rFactor still works fine on my PC - but it looks like Can-Am needs a bit more memory space... Okay, 15 opponents is enought to have a race - I'm really glad to drive good old Can-Am in good old GTR2 - even in my "bad old" PC lol.humpmedumpme wrote:To be honest it seems your pc isn't strong enough in memory. Glad you got it sorted. Fyi...there is a 2.0 version well underway and adds 5 more cars and many improvements over all.

At the time I was making the mod, I figured being such old models being used meant setting something called AIMinPassesPerTick= to its max of 15 would be a non-event and have little impact on peoples pc's. Oops...apparently not necessarily so lol I set the value to 15 simply to make the ai drive the cars their absolute best.
You need a couple more posts (10) to be able to use the pm function. Once you do, I can explain a bunch that may help you have a better experience with the mod.

I found something that might cause the CTD in this mod - I'm not sure about it but I think it's possible reason of these problems.
I installed all additional files - like missing sounds and all fixes. In the archive "Alternate Champ files and seat position corrections and a sound fix.rar" I found something strange. Inside the folder "CHAPARRAL 2J" (path GameData\Teams\CANAM\CHAPARRAL 2J) there is another folder "FERRARI 712" with two car files (Ferrari_712_#71044.CAR and Ferrari_712_#71050.CAR). It's a doubled foler because this folder (with exactly the same car files) is already in the right place of this fix folder. So we have two "FERRARI 712" folders there:
- 1st one in the right place - GameData\Teams\CANAM\FERRARI 712
- 2nd one in the wrong place - GameData\Teams\CANAM\CHAPARRAL 2J\FERRARI 712
In the game two cars from this second folder can't appears on the track because they can't find the graphic and physics files - these files are in the CANAM\FERRARI 712 folder but not in the CANAM\CHAPARRAL 2J\FERRARI 712 folder - so imo this folder and two car files in it should be deleted after unpacking the "Alternate Champ files and seat position corrections and a sound fix.rar". I was trying to explain it correctly but it looks like I made it kind of complicated by this long explanation, tho... Sorry.

I wondered where I put that darn Ferrari! lol oops. Yes, you're correct, that car doesn't belong in the 2J folder.

All the cars now have cockpits and all have real skins. Plus a few more cars are added. With me being buried in Absolute Le Mans cars currently, I have no opportunity to get back to the 2.0 Can-Am just yet. Glad you're enjoying the first version though. Are you utilizing the Seasons files as well?

Only recently started learning the Seasons procedure. Hopefully it will get easier after I do it a few more times. I understand the giant task ahead of you with the Absolute Le Mans mod. (Been doing a fair amount of driving in it too! ) Hopefully you will find time to release some updates for the Can Am Mod as well soon. It's a work of art that's not too far from being perfect!
