Absolute Can-Am Reeloaded
Credits to Absolute Modding Team
and very special Credits for this new improved version from Loosether
"This update is dedicated to the memory of Phil Jones aka Hmmguy1, without whom we wouldn't have this mod to drive like we do !
Previously, this mod was only available over at Evolution Modding (so I believe) but I was asked to post it here too, so here it is. (links at the bottom of this post).
Absolute Can-Am @ Evolution Modding <------- Go here for more information.
UPDATED :
Cars :
- Finished cockpits.
Finished as in steering wheels (with correct axis), animated drivers both internal and external, working gauges (where there is .car file data to make them work. All cars have working tacho). These are just generic cockpits and have not been (re)modeled in the style of the car they are in.
- Driver helmets and suits for each driver - not necessarily historically accurate.
- Exhaust smoke.
- Working mirrors - some cars to a greater or lesser extent than others.
- Brake lights.
- Complete sounds - repackaged under a sounds\Can-Am folder, sorted by car group.
- lots of little work patching and plugging holes in the car models with various levels of success - they are pretty old models.
- Repainted from scratch by GeeDee.
- Chaparral 2E & 2G updated with some new parts from a modern model (Forza) - Rear wing, mirror, windshield and exhaust pipes.
Interface :
- Uniform showroom floor for all cars.
- Tech sheets for all cars.
- Championship Graphics and info.
NOTES :
* - Internal view adjustment - As you hop from car to car, you will have to adjust your seating position but there is plenty of scope provided. To adjust, I have driver position up/down, forward/back mapped to the mouse buttons.
* - Championships - Not in this initial package as I wanted to get it out for Christmas. Will follow soon.
* - AUDs - Even though the sounds have been collected and organised into a "sounds\Can-Am" folder, the original AUD files have been retained, renamed as <audfilename>_orig.aud, if you prefer to use the sounds as set up in Phil's original release i.e not download this sound package, although I'd recommend to use the new sound package as it has ALL the sounds in the one place and there is no need to rename all the AUD files.
* - Mistakes - I put in a lot time to get this finished so it could be released for Christmas and there were a LOT of files to rename and/or edit so I may well have made a few mistakes in my rush. Let me know if there are any problems wink
* - Original documentation is in the Can-Am folder in a folder named "Original docs".
* - Hmmguy1 / Phil Jones - Let us not forget Phil. RIP mate.
INSTALLATION :
1. If you have the original mod then :
- delete it's folder "CANAM" from the gamedata\teams folder.
- From gamedata, delete :
SIM_Absolute_Can_Am.gdb
SIM_Absolute_Can_Am.tga
SIM_Absolute_Can_Am.txt
SIM_Absolute_Can_Am_The_60's_Cars.gdb
SIM_Absolute_Can_Am_The_60's_Cars.tga
SIM_Absolute_Can_Am_The_60's_Cars.txt
SIM_Absolute_Can_Am_The_70's_Cars.gdb
SIM_Absolute_Can_Am_The_70's_Cars.tga
SIM_Absolute_Can_Am_The_70's_Cars.txt
This will stop the old mod "class" selection screens from showing.
You won't (shouldn't) be able to choose any of the updated cars from these screens anyway so they might as well go.
2. Standard package for standard install.
- Copy Gamedata folder from package to GTR2 folder. There shouldn't be any files overwritten except for the talent files (these haven't changed).
3. If you are installing the sounds package, repeat step 2 for that package file.

"Private"?
We, at AMT; decided long time ago to post this mod allover. Trakaholics, here, umd and Evo.
I mean its been years since its everywhere posted by Phil or me, and the same for this reworked version.
Just like the Le Mans mod

Re: Absolute Can-Am Reeloaded
Installed this mod tonight and checked it out, after first deleting the original mod I've enjoyed for a long time. Two things I noticed straight away. None of the different Lola T70's (1966 and 1967 cars) will appear in the showroom, though they do display in the selection screen at the top. As the Lola fix was for the T222 I've no idea why. Any ideas on the problem?
Just wondering, the Lola T333 is appearing in the '72 and '73 season selections just as in the original mod, although this car wasn't raced until 1977. Is this intentional?
Excellent work, the car models look fantastic!

Re: Absolute Can-Am Reeloaded
I want to thank you for this mod. This is one of my favorite historical series. I wanted to know if you would consider converting these cars from the AC Legends Prototype Mod. 1.6

Re: Absolute Can-Am Reeloaded
OOO thanks for that link racerm, missed that one. I think you you find most of them (AC Can Am's) convert to GTR2, have already been done by a few people. i've already done most of them, but weather you would think they are good enough is the question? If you do "a bit" of modding yourself and have 3DSimed, you can run them in GTR2 or make them better (ie add lights etc) i will send you them if you like just PM me. (if this is allowed??)
Re: Absolute Can-Am Reeloaded
I wish I had the skill to convert cars but I don't sorry. My magic is tracks. I am still working on improving the historic Can-Am tracks. If you have a link to the AC Mclaren 8C and the Chapperal please let me know or if you convert them. Great work thanks in advance.

Re: Absolute Can-Am Reeloaded
about the Lola, i think its inteded cuz it was the only 1977 car and would race alone
for the AC mod, maytake a look at it but the le mans mod and the f1 mod are taking most of my free time
Happy new year, everyone

Re: Absolute Can-Am Reeloaded
JPanzer the problem lies in the .cas file. Either a large gap or wrong name in the .cas file. If you can't figure it, you can PM me and send the offending file complete and i will take a look for you?

Re: Absolute Can-Am Reeloaded
I will try to locate the correct Cas file and send it to you. Had the same thing happen with a car driven by Cevert too. Will try to find it as well....

can am reloaded
I bumped into this great mod which prompted me to re-install gtr2 since a long time ago !!
I have a question: when you select a season it seems some cars from a previous season get mixed up on the grid, you get 2 or 3 times bruce mc laren or whatever. is there a solution ?
I see folders from each track inside a seaon folder, what is the purpose ?

Re: Absolute Can-Am Reeloaded
The link is perfectly working .... but the problem might be this "Adfly" system for you
Try this method and it should work for you as it is working for me ... just avoiding Adfly
- Right-click on the link and choose "Copy the adress of the link"
- open a new tab in your browser and paste the copied adress
- in this adress delete everything before "[You must be registered and logged in to see this link.] "
- "Enter" and you are directly connected to Mediafire and can dowload.

Re: Absolute Can-Am Reeloaded
For the 2 cars appearing without external body on track, here's the fix.
For Lola T260 and McLaren M8F, lines for HIGH, MED and LOW chassis were simply missing in the .cas files
They were necessary even though the GMTs were exactly the same.
Unzip in Gamedata/Teams/Canam folder
