Re: VTCC Mod Release thread - Alfa Romeo Giulietta released
VW Golf VI TDI v0.9 is released
If someone can solve the problem of the flickering headlights (without making them dull) would be greatly appreciated. It's the only unsolved bug that I'm aware of. Seems I solved all the others, but let me know....

If you have the WTCC Mod (Race07 conversion) on your install, when installing the "VTCC Shared Files" make sure to say yes when it asks to overwrite.Seble18 wrote:hey guys i have a little problem here

Re: VTCC Mod Release thread - Alfa Romeo Giulietta released
Thank you for the Golf. The lights work fine to drive, but I see all the cars lights flicker on the replay. ( Maybe just my system)

Re: VTCC Mod Release thread - Alfa Romeo Giulietta released
Fab, have you tried to move them a bit more to the front, something like 0.01? You don't really see the difference but the flickering probably stops.

That was it
I was getting mad solving all the other issues of this car, that when came this last one I didn't think to the simplest solution.....
In a minute will come the corrected version of the car.

Re: VTCC Mod Release thread - Alfa Romeo Giulietta released
Let me explain that flickering or how professionals it would call "z-fighting". Ulf taught me about that. It's a pretty simple story.
If you have two or more meshes very close to each other like on those lights or on some tracks with the skidmarks, the game engine starts to struggle to sort out which mesh to show above and which below because they are just too close together. If it is a general problem, the mesh simply has to be placed a bit more away from the other one.
Another way everyone can do to solve it is to work with ClipPlanes. Maybe it's a big myth for most guys, but is a very simple story.
If you have i.e. ClipPlanes=(0.5,4000) that means something like, that objects within a range of 0.5 Meters and 4000 Meters are shown proper. But if you have meshes very close to each other, that might not be enough. Sometimes ClipPlanes=(0.05,7000) can help, but sometimes it can be also ClipPlanes=(0.8,1500). This is what you've to find out.
Maybe it's not a 100% correct explanation, but this is how I learned to understand it. It can be a help to solve that flickering issue on tracks and maybe even on cars.

Re: VTCC Mod Release thread - Alfa Romeo Giulietta released
I know mate I solved this same problem for Kamuro on his F430 GT2 on the rear lights ages ago (never mentioned, of course ).
But with this Golf I had problems over problems (wrong settings, missing textures, parts to be moved etc etc....); when came out that last thing with the lights I only thought about the meterial properties, and when I saw they were correct I just gave up....
When you mentioned the position thing, I think I had 5mins of schock, staring at the monitor with my mouth open thinking "can't be that! can't be that! can't be that!...."

Re: VTCC Mod Release thread - Alfa Romeo Giulietta released
Implementing new lights, better than the rfactor ones. Is a new thing for me, so I hope all will go well. If the result will be good, I'll release a new lights pack.
Meanwhile.... little teaser....

Nope. In GTR2 doesn't work correctly.RicardoG wrote:are you doing the same light glow effect as rfactor??
So, if you remove that effect from the rfactor lights, the result is usually just a round white mesh. Compare the Merc lights: in the one I already released, there's only a lamp on for each headlight, while with the update I'm making, the leds work as well.
