Track help for beginner
Hi all,
I have had GTR2 for a while but only really dabbled with getting things to work. Now, due to more time at home would like to try to:
1) add more pit boxes to some tracks
2) put in some updated advert boards/ trucks
Is there a good tutorial type guide to doing this sort of changes.
Please note all these changes will be for personal use, i don't want to upset anyone by changing their work. I cant imagine where you start to design a track and have the most respect for the good people that made it possible to drive the tracks of the world.
Any help welcome.

Unfortunately I can't help you with this, BUT if you do add pitboxes to tracks, I for one would greatly appreciate you posting them for public use!
Are you planning on doing vanilla circuits or modded ones?

Hi Littlefysh,
Thanks for your reply. Well generally i don't like altering the original content mainly because i don't want to break the excellent work SIMBIN did. However, in the future i may edit them yes if i know how.
I would like to share any work but like i said i don't want to detract from the fact i did not make the custom tracks. Some of these tracks i have i just don't know who did them!

I guess you have a lot to read.

You need 3dSimed and GEditor to do these changes. Learn how to use these tools.nccgtr2 wrote:2) put in some updated advert boards/ trucks
This is a mixture of the second request and learning how to make an AIW file. You have to take a look at the last two links.nccgtr2 wrote:1) add more pit boxes to some tracks

You need 10 reputation points to access that link. Ilu's tutorial contains all you need. Maybe later you will be able to access the last link and improve your skills with more tips.

Re: Track help for beginner
I have only had a skim read of the tutorial and have picked up on what some of the values do. I did a bit of a play in 3dsimed with a AIW file but could not find how to save/export as AIW or txt.

Re: Track help for beginner
I'm not a track modder. I only know that modders make aiw using the tool rf AIW CAM Editor.
Everything should be explained in ilu's tutorial (the link at the end of opening post).

Re: Track help for beginner
Thanks Racerm. I should have said this before but, my main reason for doing this is to up the max vehicles count. This is so in the future i can put the circuits in seasons and get all the competitors to turn up without the game crashing.
update: i have started on Bahrain as it has a few issues. Will let you know how i get on.

Re: Track help for beginner
i have fixed improved the Bahrain track. The track is excellent many thanks to who created/converted it. I don't want to offend anyone but if you want my fixes i can send them if its ok.
Some changes are:
41 max vehicles
no black flag on rolling start or teleport
safety car shows up
no ptlit errors
maybe some other minor stuff i forget.

Re: Track help for beginner
Why don't you share your work in a dedicated release thread?
If you know who is the author (or the website where you got the files) there is no problem. Just mention it in opening post.

track conversion
The new blender has excellent features, can it be used to convert the tracks instead of 3D SimEd, or create them?

Re: Track help for beginner
I just asked something I don't know, I'm learning blender now, before I used 3DS Max, in some things they are similar, but in others, quite different, so it wasn't a joke or stupidity ...
if you understood it like that, I'm sorry
