Hey folks!

It's been a while, I know.  I meant to stop in at the holidays and say wish everyone a good one.  But you know how it gets.  I do hope everyone is happy, healthy and, prosperous in 2019; and I am glad that discussion and racing continues here.

As for me; things are getting better.  I've been earning more money and have been able to upgrade my system.  It's an out of the box system from Amazon:
CYBERPOWERPC Gamer Xtreme VR GXiVR8500A Gaming PC (Intel i5-9400F 2.9GHz, 8GB DDR4, NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1660 Ti 6GB, 120GB SSD, 1TB HDD

What a difference that has made!  The increased fps alone has made it worth the $900 I paid for it.  Extra memory is coming next and I am happy to report that it plays ACC quite well, along with the other sims we race, and FS/LS19. (I can finally play the 4 fach maps without lots of lagging). Very Happy

A lot of driving practice, reading and watching videos continues, and I have moved on to racing AI and real peeps as often as possible.  So I hope to rejoin the fun here very soon, without interruption. What a Face

But now to the meat of this post.
As a few of you remember may; my G27 has an issue.  I was never able to fix it and have been going without paddle shifters and wheel buttons.  I have just a small amount of money to spend before I have to cut my budget for the rest of the year.

So I am stuck between the Logitech G29 and G920.  They are similarly priced and the G29 has that 15 position button that can be used for engine management.  I am leaning toward that.  However, since you guys are the only ones I really trust, (racedepartment and 2nd place), I thought I would get some opinion here before I blow the rest of my hardware budget for the year.

Any thoughts or opinion would be helpful.  I am most concerned about deadzone issues.  That's one thing I WILL NOT miss about my G27.

Thanks and happy days my friends.  I really hope to rejoin soon.  Your brother,

Toe What a Face

Aren't they basically the same wheel, but one with xbox and one with PS compatibility?

If I was upgrading my G27 no way I'd get a G29. Not enough of an upgrade for me. I'd certainly go belt drive. I heard even for GTR2 there's a difference with the modern belt wheels.

I actually agree with you and I had actually planned on putting together a more adjustable setup (belt drive wheel, spaceable hydraulic pedals, etc.), a couple of projects fell through and I had to cut my budget. My G27 has a short that causes the paddles not to work and mysterious button presses when I turn the wheel. So mainly, I'm just looking for something to replace it. Then I can try and see if I can fix it without worry if I foul something up. And I have reached a plateau where I can't drive much faster or safer one handed, using the shifter as a sequential unit.

I'm also trying to buy a small farm here in Western Maryland, so money is going to get really tight in a minute. That will lock my budget for about a year, with the exception of new sims or DLCs and any donations I may want or need to make. And you are correct about the wheels. The 29 is PS and PC and the 920 is xbox and PC. The G29 is about $30 US more expensive because of that 15 position dial on the wheel.
