Seems my question above has been answered. It's a shame that the community is slowly dying out because people throw a tantrum and toss the toys from the cot

Looks like it's dead in the water. Damn shame, people wonder why this side of the sim community is on it's death bed, this is why. rFactor 1, dead. rFactor 2, stagnant and dying. Assetto Corsa, slowing down a bit, Automobilista also slowly dying. Meanwhile pay to play is getting bigger. One person asks for help, albeit it was a bit cocky and people get butthurt and they can't swallow pride. It's a shame for the people from simcareer, they made the mode and now it looks unlikely that it will ever get used because some people crack the sooks

Yeah nah that's not correct - know two leagues that use their mod and one of them went on to make some minor improvements and additions to SC's TCR mod.
SCs issue was that they're an Italian league trying to grab some racers by throwing a TCR mod out there. Both leagues that are still around on the TCR mod are either International or Brazilian, which allows for a much bigger community base. And ever since tcr_luca moved the mod to The Rollovers the mod seems to be gone from AMS.

Still have a lot of the liveries around though, but personally I won't be willing to share until I get the explicit permission from ChaosZero.

Apart of that, he'll definetly not re-release them because you throw a tantrum in here.[/quote]

The rabbit hole goes deeper than that and it's too simplified for it to understand how things work(ed) behind the scenes. You see pretty cars and free download links. BTS, it was another story.

The simracing (online) scene here in Italy has been oversaturated for well over a decade and when you have the main organization (SRZ) being involved in real life racing and offering real racing opportunities for the winners of their championships as part of their prize pools, suddenly every other portal becomes irrelevant. Thus, the only opportunity for their competitors to thrive and be successful was to try and bring something new to the table, in the form of TCRs. At the time, none in the AC nor AMS communities was working on these cars aside from a few isolated cases like that trash coming from that GTR2 "modder".

So, the only solutions were to either hire 3D modelers or buy already-done 3D models. Either way, it was going to be expensive. The former was not an option, so they went for the latter. I'm not familiar with the details, but from what I was told and shown, we're talking between €300-€400 of investment just to buy the models. It would've required a lot more time and work to then make those models actually usable ingame. The guy that did the initial work left them after making 1 (bad) conversion, and that's where Triebie and I came in to help. The two of us, with imputs and suggestions from SC people, spent countless months trying to fix and bring these cars to life in an usable form.

First new cars from us are released, feedback start to come in, people like them, everyone's happy. More than 11.000 visits to this topic since it was created 1 year ago. Close to 23.000 visits to the original topic of the main mod. Factoring in that multiple visits are from the same people, there's still a rough estimate of 10.000-15.000 unique visitors that looked at this mod at least once.

Not bad for a game with a dead modding community, aye?
Yes and no. Because while traffic was good and interest was allegedly high, each and every single one of those visitors were not willing to go beyond that. This is also where SC comes back into the equation. They told us before the RS3 and the final revision of the Golf were even released that the missing models (FK8, i30N, etc) would not be bought; that was months before we ceased development. Reason being, that they were too economically invested in the project already (by buying all the previous models) so their idea was to try and run a championship with that build of the mod to see how many people would actually commit and give them back even just a small symbolic fee of €5 to take part in the championship (the mod was and is still free, it was never hidden behind a paywall at any time, unlike some other people in the AC community).

Unsurprisingly, a lot of people don't want to pay anything and only want free things, so the proposed championship was a failure and folded before it even started. That sealed its fate, the mod ceased development and we stopped supporting it.

Why was everything deleted? I don't know why the mod itself did, but on our side we just decided that it wasn't worth our time anymore to keep developing and supporting a dead mod, one that featured only a third of the real cars (the ones we made) and was still featuring mostly fake or inaccurate models to make up for the missing ones.

What does that means for the TCR project (and other very popular real life championships) in general? Nothing and everything.
Triebie and I are still working on his own projects. He keeps making mods, I keep making skins for his mods. Make of that what you will. Nothing more, nothing less.

About past projects, they effectively don't exist anymore. If I could delete the entire thread and make it disappear I would, as nothing shown here reflects the quality I have currently achieved for my work.

Which brings me to a personal and final note, as I have had a few very productive conversations with people running a couple of real life TCR championships around the world and a number of real life TCR teams and I'm some proof of concept kind of work for/with them.

I don't believe I was targeting CZ for beginners for clarification. My issue is this ridiculous petty in fighting going on. It is pointless and killing the community. The question is simple, are the skins available or are there not. That's what my question is, primarily because if there isn't I would like to know so I can inform some people I'm helping out. I don't mean to be rude, but when you are looking with no replies it gets frustrating

That's a lot of insights and details, thank you very much for sharing! Never thought I'd hear the full story of the TCR mod, but glad I did now. Never thought that SC spent so much on the mod nor that Triebie was involved that deep. Also kinda glad that you apparently made the jump to a successful cooperation and now work in real motorsports, that's a dream coming true I guess.

That's sad I was looking and supporting the works you are made, even not having Automobilista game, it's nice to the the scene grouping and working together...transmits an image the community is still alive and keeps me with hope. I love those old simracing games and it's awesome to see all the people making/sharing their works and making all those years (there are many) fun with our old gem gold games. Thanks for everything.

I had a short but incredible experience helping Triebie and add content to his fantastic cars, I hope you guys simply don't go away and let us alone, our community (not only in this forum) is dissapearing more and more day after day. Let's keep our feelings alive, thanks for everything!

Ultimately people want to get paid doing what they love and I have no issues with that. That culture of getting every mod for free is dying because the kind of 3rd party content we are getting now is top quality that a big studio could make. Whereas that was never the case in the early years where it was just crap thrown together or subpar stuff.

We haven't stopped working. We just stopped releasing. That's a substantial difference.
Most of what I've been doing for his projects can be made available for everyone else (and for free, most importantly) at any given time, provided somebody else releases his own public conversion of something first.
Make it right, make it good, and then we'll talk. Until then, I won't discuss this matter anymore.
