Re: Verry long loading time gtr2
Hi !
A simple tip: just make a fresh install in a different folder, use version 9.6 which start faster, and then ou can copy/paste it to any new folder without windows install again (just a a new shortcut on your desktop).
I have personally six different versions with a specific kind of mod : GT3, Le Mans, Touring Cars etc..

I think the v9.6 mentioned here is about 10th Anniversary Patch 9.6. You can download the v9.6 patch on RaceDepartment.

Re: Verry long loading time gtr2
It's obvious the sim is going to take time to load as you have many gigs in it. Mine does the same thing depending how many stuffs I've put in it. Same for another sim, it takes more than 2 minutes to load everything (about 3+ millions AI)steven1972 wrote:Lots of work , but it runs now like a dream .

Re: Verry long loading time gtr2
My GTR2 is ca. 30 GB, then I had a GTR2 for the old cars (70´-80´´) with 20 GB.
My Grids are createt with the tool carselector. With Carselector I had grids like LM95, Fia GT 2005, IMSA GTO etc.
So when i want drive IMSA GTO, I open carselector disable all cars, then load the saved iMSA GTO cars and I had a grid with 35 cars (thats the car files wich are oren for loading) and the loading starttime is ca. 3 seconds.
When I want drive FIA GT, open the carselector, disable all Cars and load my Save File "original" (its the name for default Game) so I had all standart Cars for GTR2, all others are disable.
Cars who are disable not getting load for starting GTR2
The same and same for what I want to drive. Its very simple and fast

Re: Verry long loading time gtr2
They work I think. When not tell me and i will upload at weekend:
[You must be registered and logged in to see this link.]
BUT don´t forget. With this program you must create your own Grid with enable or disable cars, then Save it with a Name you want. Then you can load the file and you have the Grid.
At beginn its a bit work but after that you will never have work for special Grids you like. easyest way is to disable all cars, then enable the single cars.
other example:
I installed a new fresh GTR2, then this tool. After that I save in Carselector as "original", after that i installed the mods. When I want to drive default GTR2 cars and saison, I disable all 2000 cars and load the file "original"
Have fun, its easy

Freezing while loading track
Hi everyone. Help needed.
I've had some weird problems this week. It began with the dreaded visual C++ runtime error. Took a coupld of days ( yes serious ) of modifyiing, uninstalling, reinstalling, repairing, etc etc all those nasty annoying windows redistribution updates, roll back of drivers etc etc until i ended up uninstalling GTR2 ( twice) and reinstalling it.
So now the runtime termination in unsual way error has been fixed i have a new problem.
One specific track won't load. ( just one that i know of )
The load screen goes right up to the end, but that's it. Whole system freezes, GTR2 track loading screen, GTR2 music plays, but NOTHING... I can't even open Task Manager to close the program. Have to actually hit the power button and shut down the computer. To be clear, i've raced on other tracks since the runtime issue, and strangely this same track loaded no problems first time when i did the first test use AFTER the visal C++ runtime problem but now EVERY time i try to load this track it freezes. Regardless of race type ( open, weekend, championship) and regardless of car.
To confirm, it's one of my BTB/3Dsimed custom built tracks that's not running.
I have done literally hundreds of laps on this track right up to the runtime issue. I've even got a hot lap video posted up on Youtube. And ... as mentioned, the first test run i did after the runtime issue ( with default reinstall settings) was this track.
Since then, the ONLY things which have changed are:
i reset the config from default to 1366 x 768 ( which works perfectly for the other tracks)
installed the 4gb patch,
added the GTR2 app to my systems graphics priorities,
install my user files.
Now all of a sudden the track won't load, but freezes the whole system. I'm not getting CTD, i'm getting Freeze so there's nothing really in trace files, although this one was produced.
TRACE LEVEL = 1000
netcomm.cpp 7902: NetComm checking command line: "-trace=1000'""
game.cpp 633: Entered Game::Enter()
osman.cpp 469: Entered OSMan::Enter()
game.cpp 1181: Entered Game::Exit()
sound.cpp 831: Entered Sound::Exit()
specialfx.cp 4367: Entered SpecialFX::Exit()
hwinput.cpp 6649: Entered HWInput::Exit()
dynman.cpp 1509: Entered DynMan::Exit()
onscreen.cpp 3280: Entered OnScreen::Exit()
vidman.cpp 1801: Entered VidMan::Exit()
osman.cpp 505: Entered OSMan::Exit()
Driving me nuts. Any help, suggestions, fixes, solves are very muuch appreciated.

Re: Verry long loading time gtr2
Hi guys,
To your opinion, what's the best NVidia configuration for our favorite simulation ?
Since the last driver update, my GTR2 doesnt work properly : very long starting sequence, very long loading (display, track, etc...)

Re: Verry long loading time gtr2
Strange Alex ... as I don't see a real graphic reason for your problems of loading times.
My heaviest GTR2 install is on a SSHD drive .... first time I launch this install ( rarely nowadays ) it takes more than 2 minutes to load.
Once once launched ( and not using a heavy other game or application in the meantime ), this game install will be started in the SS part of the HDD: loading time ? less than 30 seconds.
Now I changed PC 2 years ago ( except this SSHD ) 2 GTR2 installs are on my previous SSD .... those installs are loading in 20 seconds.
Most GTR2 recent mods are much too heavy for this older and much appreciated simulation .... or our mods collection is too big for one single install.
That's mostly the problem .... with graphic problems GTR2 is rather crashing than anything else ... I'm aware of it when I start a race with too many cars on track.... the race is loading slowly but is mostly crashing at the start in the worst case or after 30 minutes of an endurance for example.
( many modern converted mods have much too heavy 3D for GTR2 or some mods just have just the main lod and not more ).
Now for Nvidia drivers, I adopted since a long time now the tactic of not changing too much the drivers.... as I guess that new drivers are mostly meant to improve the rather newest GPUs rather than the ones of 3 years age.
As long as a Nvidia driver is working perfectly ... why change in fact ? .... I guess sometimes most changes give us the impression of an improvement, but mostly rather a placebo feeling.
The best for GTR2 ? use a content manager ... and saying use doesn't mean just install and never unactivate et activate mods. ( what we mostly finally do all and for me also ... too lazy or too busy to take some time to do it the right way )
Doing it regularly will make GTR2 lighter and load much quicker

Thanks for replying, JP, much appreciated...
Most of time, I change anything with new driver, but with the last update (driver + GeForce Experience), my GTR2 doesn't work anymore : more than 5 minutes only to start, 30 seconds for spin & showroom, etc...
Don't know what's the problem exactly...

Re: Verry long loading time gtr2
Hello Alex,
If I were you I'd rather search in GeForce Experience rather than the driver.
I learnt from long ago that avoiding it was one of the best solutions to avoid problems.
I just install drivers when needed but never GeForce any longer.
I don't know how it is done nowadays, but in the past some unneeded features were automatically enabled at the start even features which you personally don't use.... for example the streaming.
I guess that it's not changed but maybe even worse than before.
Maybe someone more aware of what it does now might help you.
