New PC
Hello,
Am starting to think about getting a new PC and would like some advice. Am look at spending around the £700 mark, something that will let me play stuff like Assetto to a high standard and also run GTR2 with big grids on a decent setting. Can anybody recommend any websites that are good? Also has anyone had any experience with paying for their PC using finance?
Thanks a lot
J

Re: New PC
CPU: Intel Xeon E3-1230 v3, 4x 3.30GHz, Socket 1150
Board: MSI Z97-G43
Ram: G.Skill RipJawsX DIMM Kit 8GB, DDR3-1600, CL8-8-8-24
Graphic: MSI R9 290 Gaming 4G, Radeon R9 290, 4GB GDDR5
Power Supply: Sea Sonic M12II-620 Bronze EVO Edition 620W ATX 2.3
SSD: Samsung SSD 850 EVO 250GB, SATA 6Gb/s
HDD: Western Digital WD Black 500GB, SATA 6Gb/s (WD5003AZEX)
cooling and case i dont know what you prefer the compilation i selected with the best price / performance just dont know whats the price in £ but if its too heavy a downgrade it easy possible, thats a selection with the better parts... for example you can take a smaller card, mostly the price is a bigger difference than the performance lost between the cards and so using a smaller powersupply too... using a smaller ssd will save some money also...
a xeon 1230 server cpu because its much cheaper than a i7 but has the same performance, you just cant overclock it and a amd card because you will have enough performance but they are much cheaper than nvidia card... i have amd cards since years now and im always happy with them...
8gb ram are enough, i dont think you will need more even when using photoshop
with this configuration you should be able to run ac or pcars on high settings
if you want press my signature ^^ i have nearly same specs

Re: New PC
Have a look at PC Specialist, I bought my sons PC a couple of years ago from there and it's been fine. I will be buying a new PC next month from them, they offer 4 year finance deals too and let you spec a PC to your specific requirements.

Re: New PC
Thanks for the reply guys Ive had a look on PC specialist David and the apr with the finance option is crazy. Ive looked at wired2fire.co.uk who get good reviews. For just under £600 which is kind of the max that I can spend I came up with this:
CPU: Intel Core i3 4150 Dual Core (3.5GHz, 3MB Cache) Socket 1150
Graphics: nVidia GeForce GTX 750 Ti 2GB GDDR5 PCI Express Graphics Card
Memory: 8GB Standard DDR3 1600MHz
Motherboard: Asus B85M-E Intel B85 Motherboard
System Drive: Seagate 1TB/8GB Desktop Solid State Hybrid Drive (SSHD)
What do you guys think?

Re: New PC
Try to get a i5 3470 at least (it's 1155 tho). It's quad core, way better than a i3 even if the i3 is newer

Getting the 3470 will reduce the price as the motherboard for 1155 is also a bit cheaper. They are pretty close.

Re: New PC
Well that's depends on his budget and what he already have tho.
If he already has a 1155 motherboard then even better he wouldn't need to spend money on it and if he needs something better he can get an i7 3770 later.
But if you are going to buy all new and the 1150 is still inside what you want to spend then yeah go for it.

Re: New PC
James - have a look at the Novatech site - you can spec a machine as you want it either from scratch or using a Barebones bundle. I have used them for some time and find their customer service to be very good. Prices of components will vary depending on the lifecycle of the product - remember everything is out of date after 3-4 months!

Re: New PC
hi! the intel i3 isn't good for play at any games..it's a processor for office job i think..for assetto corsa you need to have a i7 with 4 or 6 or 8 giga di ram..and 2 giga di ram dedicated to video|

Meanwhile, for my birthday, I just brought home a new PC, again an "all AMD", as in the last 15yrs
AMD A8-6500 (3.5Ghz Processor + AMD HD8570D)
AMD R7 240 with 4GB of dedicated ram + 3.5Gb from the system for a total of 7.5Gb, as it says
8Gb ram DDR3
HDD 1Tb
......and that damn Windows 8.1
