A few days ago I went to turn on my computer to find that nothing was coming up on the monitor. I've tried different cables and even a different monitor but still nothing. The computer seems to be loading up ok but am just not getting anything to show on my screen. Is this the end for my rig?

I had a similar sounding issue with a computer at work. It could be an issue with the graphics card which could cause a visual problem, or as with my computer at work, it could be the motherboard.

theres a beep when he starts? normal is one beep and there can be different beeps too, it shows if all its normal or if theres a error so normally when theres a broken ram, broken cpu or graphics card you will get a beep beep beep or something else

the monitor is ok? when you just have no pic the monitor can be damaged too and not the system

you checked the cable from pc to monitor?

I will need to buy an adaptor to run the processor graphics. I have noticed that the fan in the power supply is not spinning, could this be related?

It'd overheat and shut down I think. But you say the whole thing is working so it's hard to tell.

even when you have a heavy problem the pc will run

its hard to say what it is without the beep Wink

it brings warn messages with the beep and you can check the mainboard manual to know whats the error message...

heres example from my mainboard

James, have you tried a BIOS Reset?
For this, keep the computer on the power plant, but of course keep it turned off. Open it and search on the mainboard for a little bridge with the caption "CMOS" or something similar - important is that bridge! You should have 3 pins there and 2 of them connected through the bridge. Now take off that bridge, put it onto the other 2 pins, wait 30-60 seconds, put it back into the old position.
Now start your computer. You should now get a normal screen. Go into the BIOS, choose "Load BIOS Defaults" and save it. Then go out and try to but in a normal way.
Most times this helps.

Then I can only recommend you to check your boards by taking them off. Maybe there is a major damage on it if nothing helps at all. I had it 3 years ago where a few conductors were blown - but only at the back so you couldn't see it. I hope it's not such a damage like this.

I will play around with it but am not getting my hopes, I've had this thing for over six years and it was only a mid-level spec computer from new. Its done me well but I think it is time for something new even though I can't afford anything until about Christmas.

most of the video cards has 2 outputs: a HDMI (white) and a VGA (blue) one. If you were using HDMI so far, try your monitor with the VGA cable, maybe it helps. Maybe it can be a problem of your motherboard, since your cooling fan is not working, maybe it's graphic card is not getting any voltage as well. I would try out that graphic card in another pc as well to see if it's working at all.
