Is that for the first or second genstring number?
First, second is the helmet style

Yes - and the helmet uses numbers rather than the letters of the suits.

Just to clarify, are we allowed to share videos/screenshots of this mod outside of the forums, or not?

Excellent work, guys! Smile

Is anyone else having trouble with brakelights not working on the new models (R8u, SLS, MP4)?  The lights work fine if I'm driving one of those cars in a private test, but when combined in a race session with the older models (F458, Gallardo, 997...) the new ones do not light up under braking.  Besides this mod, I only have the original GTR2 cars in this particular install.

Second question is specifically about the Mercedes template: namely these circled parts behind the grille.  I know it's part of the body1.dds but have been unable to figure out where exactly on there. Just want to make it gray/black.

[You must be registered and logged in to see this image.]

Thanks for any assistance.

You need to keep a small square in the bottom left hand corner of whatever colour you want it to be - it's not obvious from the template at all!  On your SLS it is red because the rear wing top surface colour is red.   If you just add in a black or carbon square where the pink bit is on the image below, it should solve the problem.

On a related note, if you are painting the front/rear grilles on the 2013 spec Porsche 997s you'll find that the grille itself is mapped to BODY2, the grille edging strip is not and so continues to show as a bare metal colour .   To get round this, you'll have to save a copy of your 'XXXXX_PORSCHE_997R13_BODY2.DDS' file as  'PORSCHE_997R13_BADGES_DIFFUSE.DDS' which will then override the default file when the game loads.  Leave this last file loose in your team folder (if you pack it up as a TEX.GTR the game will continue to use the default texture regardless).

Looks like I was being tricked by 3DSimEd.  In game, the grille and surround are the intended colour using only Body2, but 3DSimEd stubbornly refuses to show the correct texture.  Hey ho!

Interesting... I have been looking to paint the grille mesh for the Aston GT3 so if I paint the badges file out of the main TEX file, and then save it in the TEX for the skin texture (not renamed), then only that car will use that version of the badges file?

Hope that makes sense!

Actually, on the Aston the front grille is mapped to Body2, so if you create a copy of the badges file and change the mesh colour to blue (as for example on the Kinfaun Aston) and save it as XXXXX_Aston_V12Vantage_BODY2.DDS you'll get the desired effect. As a bonus, this will mean that the mesh on the rear diffuser corners will continue to use the normal badges file, so can be a different colour.

Hmmm good spot! Perfect for Oman Racing Team!

Only downside is you can either paint all the front meshes, or none. On PGF Kinfaun's car only the top grille mesh is painted, not the lower:

True, though at some rounds, if you look closely, the bottom grille is also blue on the Kinfaun car (though often in shadow so not so easy to spot). This is Donington '13:

If you have the patience (and lots of it) and skill with editing faces in 3DSimEd, it is possible to have a split coloured grille, but I'm not sure it's worth the effort really, as the colour effect in game is not as vivid as real life anyway.

[RELEASE] EEC GT3 Base Mod v3.0 31.01.15 - Updated 24.10.19 - Page 7 Empty Backwards skins

Post  Guest 10/2/2015, 22:49

Good evening one and all,

Thanks for this excellent mod, I must say the models look fantastic and the sounds are amazing!
But I have a slight issue in so far as I am have difficulties converting the skins from theBlancpain.Endurance.Series.2012.v1.1 mod. I can get the cars working in game but when I change the name of the skins to work with the new TEX files the skins always appear backwards/jumbled up in game. So far I have tried to convert the MaLaren and the V12Vantage, both had the same result and I was wondering if any of you kind folks had any ideas as to my mistake?

PS I've tried crossing my eyes which helps a little Wink

Many thanks

They're likely to be completely different car models, hence the skins not 'fitting'.

OK Thanks for the info,

I thought I read that the cars could be converted do you know if any of the skins from this mod can be converted or perhaps skins from a different mod maybe?

Many thanks

and you can spend more hours on hours to remap every little srew on a car to make them paintable Wink sometimes its just useless... guys remember this is a game! and sometimes its more than ok how it is...

i could do for sure much more but you would still wait for the mod... dont forget gmt Wink previews, previews, previews but never a released vln mod Wink

yep you are right, as i already wrote on the readme, this is the last mod for gtr2 from my side... i will finishe this pack for gsc now too with some more changes and later i will add there the last cars what i shown on my gt3 wip thread, so when they are released there its no problem if someone wants to convert them Wink

I think you misunderstand me! I mean the lower front grille being paintable separate to the upper front grille. Wink

Yep, you're right.  I knew this was what you'd intended, but I was being tricked by 3DSimEd.  Not sure why, but it is stubbornly refusing to update the grille surround colour within my version of 3DSimEd even when you point it directly to the body2 file but, in game, all is fine.  Must be a glitch or a particular way 3DSimEd works...  Wish I'd figured that out several hours ago!

I should have guessed that you'd already thought of this Razz

I've updated my original post to clear up any confusion. Embarassed

Thanks for any assistance.

Hate to bring this up again, but could someone please just confirm that brakelights for the Audi, BMW, Mercedes, and Aston work fine for them in a normal race. If so, I'll know there's something wrong on my end and will do a fresh install over the weekend. Thanks.

One question: are the Z4, R8, SLS, V12 Vantage and 12C (based on the) Pcars conversions or are they completely different models. If they are different what are the main differences then?

I had a race with old and new SLS and everything was fine.
