ALMS 2013 in Baltimore
I'm thinking about going to this event...
It's not that expensive, and it is a street circuit, so everything is like...there.
I just want to know if it is a good idea to go or not?

I want to attend this race aswell, as I'll work not far away from here in the summer and its a great chance to see an ALMS event.

Re: ALMS 2013 in Baltimore
I'm hoping to get some friends to go with me.
The circuit is not far from where I live, only about 25 minutes.
If I do go, it will be the first time for me seeing an ALMS event.

ah. just read it online...Grand-Am and ALMS are merging together after this 2013 season...
such a shame...I would have loved to see earlier seasons, but they were just too far away
hopefully the 2014 season will bring something new though.

Yeah, the last ALMS before the merge with Grand-Am. Then it will be called something else. No more P1 in 2014.
I'm going to Laguna Seca to see my first ALMS race. Can't wait to go!

Re: ALMS 2013 in Baltimore
Wow. It's been on my mind to always go and watch a live race.
Guess now is my chance huh. Nothing like Laguna Seca, but the best of what I can get nonetheless.

Re: ALMS 2013 in Baltimore
Keep in mind that the main problem about the merge is the fact that the series will now be owned by NASCAR, and the way they manage everything they touch is simply a total joke.
Also they plan to keep DP and P2 in same class. Heard from ALMS drivers and engineers in Twitter that the races could be very bad if they do it cuz the cars are totally different, also nobody knows how they'll balance both cars cuz the DP's are much slower, specially in tracks like Road America.
Also with NASCAR everything will be spec or very restrict.
I doubt the P2 will stay, if it stays, will be for 1 season, no more than that. The bad thing of this merge is that people already want to put the DP's and NASCAR crap cars in Le Mans. Looks like I'll have to sop watching one of my fav races...
I won't watch this merged series anyway.

NASCAR? my hopes have been broken...
now knowing that there will be no P1, and the mismatched classes, it looks like the series is dead...
Hopefully they rethink all of this, but most likely not huh?

not even slightly, they'd rather let it die than rethink it in a way that the fans would like to see.
Will mean an interesting GT grid for next year, and DPs will have to be sped up or GTs will be winning overall.
As for the question as to whether you should go - if circumstances and funds permit you to, of course! Should always go to racing! You'll have a great time and the ALMS is the best major series to see, in terms of fan friendliness, in my experience.

Then it is a no brainer. If I were on your place I wouldn't think for a second and go to race.
Hell I traveled few thousands Km to see the Le Mans race in 2011.

I'm more jealous than you, Mr. Le Mans, but don't worry! I'll come back with pics and vids.
