Race 07 skin to GTR2

Hi all.

Can I use an existing skin I have for Race 07 ST mod or do I need to create a new one?

you can use the same skins for both games, you only need to rename them.

One problem I am struggling to get to grips with is where to place the skin file (DDS). In Race 07 its visible in the Teams folder, but not in GTR2. Hope that makes sense. How do i link it so it appears in the game?

You''ll find the mod your skin is working in the teams folder, open the right map and add one with your dds files. Copy a working .cas file of a working car of the same model to your new folder. And change the names, classes etc. Don't forget to change the slot too. YearYearNumberNumberNumber and add two extra digits if you like. Otherwise it's a big chance that is will collide with some other skin. And don't forget to change the whole name of the .DDS files too.

The skins are there but they are packed into .GTR files (using a program called GEditor) in each specific team folder and are named Car number_TEX (97001_TEX for BTCC 1997 Frank Biela for example)

The skins will work fine as loose DDS, I only pack them into those files as it can half the size of a skin pack.

I think O zero racing meant copy an existing .CAR file not the .CAS file.
Adding the extra digits again is not 100% necessary - have done it on some cars but not others, it only causes a problem if you try to run 2 of the same type of car on track at once that have the same number.
The 1997 tourist trophy pack is one where I added TT to each number.
.CAR files are named 97XXXTT_CAR_ID, the number in the .CAR file should match and the skins should also have the TT added.

I hope that helps, I know it takes a bit of time getting used to GTR2 after Race07.

Do I need to do anything to the .DDS files?

The file names seem to be wrong. You need the following.
for the body: XXXXX_MONDEO_MK1_BODY1
for the windows: XXXXX_MONDEO_MK1_WINDOWS
for the int.windows: XXXXX_MONDEO_MK1_CPIT03

Where can I find the other codes like this for the other super Ts or even just the mk2 mondeo?

You can download the gtr2 templates to have the right names...
