Glad to be here!
Hello, everyone.
I'm Will Comerford, 44 years young, from Dallas, Texas. I'm an architectural CAD drafter by trade, but currently I'm a commercial/residential painter. When I'm not covered in paint, I'm working on the next "perfect skin", and when I'm not doing that, you'll find me on a disc golf course somewhere. I've always been a car nut and a fan of pretty much any racing series. I have no shame in admitting that the best car I ever owned was a hot rod 1971 Chevy Vega panel wagon.
I'll admit that I'm relatively new to the sim racing scene, at least when it comes to the PC version. I got hooked on console sims with the first Gran Turismo on Playstation, right up through all the Forzas on Xbox. I stumbled onto the PC side of things about two years ago when I was at Half-Price Books and saw a copy of GTR Evolution/Race 07 for the princely sum of eight dollars. It was an older game, but I have an older computer so I figured I'd give it a try...I had no idea what I was getting myself into.
After about a week of just playing the game out of the box, I wanted to find out if I could make my own race liveries, or at least find ones that were already made. (I'd spent countless hours doing that on Forza, using itshighly intuitive and easy-to-use hammer and chisel painting tools.) That's when I discovered how mod-friendly the SimBin series of games were.
Anyway, GTR Evo led to GTR 2 (a MUCH better game, in my opinion) and GTR 2 led to perhaps the best mod I have ever seen - the EEC FIA GT3 Mod, which led me here. If nothing else, I just wanted to be able to be a part of the community that produced such a beautifully executed group of cars.
I race almost exclusively off line. I'm a fairly decent driver, but nowhere near as talented as what I see online. I probably spend as much time designing and producing custom skins as I do actually driving the cars. I've shared quite a few, with positive feedback, at another popular forum. I'd like to be able to share them here, as this looks like a place run by adults, for adults.
So, that's a thumbnail of how I got here. We're under a tornado watch here in Dallas, so I'll be shutting down soon. Take care and use the curbs!
Will
