Problems with some AC skins Empty Problems with some AC skins

I have not had a problem with converting AC skins to GTR2 but lately some "just two) have come out black in PS. I saw the post in the lexus RF thread and tried it but PS still rejects the skin says " its in the wrong DDS. format". Is there some new encrpyting going on that I don't know about and if so how do I undo it. Thanks in advance.

Some AC skinners are publishing their skins in the  DXT10 format which can be opened using a plugin with Photoshop.

However, in my experience I found compatability issues with the .DDS plug-in in my version of PS (9.0).  I now convert it on an old version (5.0) with just the Intel Plug-in loaded, save the file and then convert to DXT1 in PS 9.0 using the .DDS plug-in.  Its a long winded workaround, but it works.

In discussion with some other Modders, they have said that the easiest way is to use 3dSimEd, which has the in built capability to convert the files.

How do you import the file into 3dsimed and convert it. Pardon me I am not a natural skinner.

You don't.

Open 3dsimed > texture browser > select the texture you want > batch conversion > dds (if it's more than one) or > dds if it's just 1.

the file will be overwritten instantly without any reaction. so don't wonder if nothing happens if you convert the dds. Wink
