Is it possible to run an offline league in gtr2? Offline league, as in just having the AI race each other and saving results.

From what I've seen in the game, it doesn't appear so.

The replay is only 30 seconds, which wouldn't capture a full race. And it seems like you can't export qualifying and race results?

Does anyone know a way around these limitations?

If you turn replay on, from the main menu, you can get a replay of the full race or session.

I haven't heard offline racing since 1999-2000 when playing Sports Car GT!

There are a few ways you can run an "offline league".

First method is to have AI as a second driver control a "camera car". This is the method I use in Global Racing League; it allows me to blast music, but more importantly, if something epic happens and I miss it while live-streaming, I can hit the action replay button to show what happened and get the reactions of "managers" on the stream chat as it happens.
This method has a few problems, which you can easily bypass as long as you pay attention:
- Your AI car will always start with 50 liters in the race if you let it qualify without ever having you start up the car during qualifying. To get around this, start the car up once during qualifying. Just to be safe, do it again when starting the race, then quit -> restart -> set starting driver back to Driver 2.
- You have an unfair advantage in no-stop races in that you can load slightly less fuel than the other AI cars. So you should check an equivalent AI car to see how much fuel they have.
- You have to stay awake for the whole race, because your AI car will bring up pit in prompts.

Second method is to have a "marshal car" controlled by you that will immediately retire upon the race going green. This is the more common method for GTR2 and rF "Offline Series". You will use the "Monitor" screen to, uh, monitor action.
This method is very safe, but it has a few problems of its own if you want to live-stream races:
- It reduces grid size.
- You can't get an Instant Replay if something epic happens.
- If you like listening to music during races, you have to use an external program to do it instead.
- If you DO want to show a replay of an epic thing that happened during the race on a live-stream, you have to save the full race replay and sit through it hoping you remembered when the epic thing happened.

In both cases, you need to take screenshots of qualifying and race results, as GTR2 will only save the results of the last race you ran.

thanks guys, this is helpful. I've done many offline leagues in other games but am still a bit new to gtr2.

RacingHeartGarage, for the second method you described, how would I go about saving the full replay? Is it automatically saved? I'm watching the race in the monitor and don't see any option to save it.

I'm not planning to livestream the races but just to take screenshots, so I think the second method would work out for me.
edit: ok, I saw the replay was saved automatically Smile

now I have two other questions,

Is it possible to adjust driver ratings (like car strength, durability, power)? Would this be something in the .rcd files?

What settings should be changed to increase crashes?

Driver ratings and "car ratings" are independent of each other. You can, for example, have a very strong driver with a really crappy car that blows up (almost) every single race.

RCD files control driver ability, the comments in a driver's RCD file should help you be guided on how the file works.

HDC files control aero and car setup parameters, they also control what "parts" are linked to the car physics:
- ENG for car engines,
- GRB (mainly) for gearbox ratios,
- SP for suspension geometry (but NOT setup: spring/damper/stabilizer stiffness is controlled in the HDC and car setup files)
- TYR for... tire behaviors (but NOT setup: pressure is defined in HDC)
- DMG for damage (how much parts break off, but NOT brake or engine failures)

If you want more mechanical failures, there are two ways: either turn Mechanical Failures in the "Realism" tab of the options screen to "Time Scaled" (if running shorter races) or lower LifetimeAvg in ENG file to a lower value. For AI cars, it seems to control general mechanical failures as well (had an incident once where a Supra had a brake failure and plowed straight into the back of another car because of it). Note that physics changes need to be done on a car-by-car basis. It's done this way to better capture the individual characteristics of each car (you can't really simulate the difference between a cute little Audi R8 LMS ultra and a hulking Bentley Continental GT3 as obviously with just NR2003's driver ratings, for instance).

In general, more mechanical failures lead to more crashes, but I'd be wary of setting it to low levels.

let's say if I wanted to run a race where each car is equal in attributes (such as that any car in the field has a chance of winning the race and being equally competitive), then the .HDC files for each type of car in that field should be identical right?

bump. does anyone know how I can make all the cars in a grid equal in power and everything?

I gave everyone the same talent files but didnt help.
