Engine change advice Empty Engine change advice

Need advice/details on how to change one engine to another car.

I've created a championship which uses two versions of Mini Cooper. One, from the Reiza Mini Challenge mod handles better and has much better engine sound. 5 speed gearbox.
The other, from RMS Mini Cooper Cup, has JCW minis which have 6 speed box, and are significantly faster, also have better cockpit detail, but don't handle as well or the sound as good as the Reiza minis.

I'd like to 'fit' the JCW 6 speed engine into the Reiza mini. So i can effectively race the Reiza mini with a faster 6 speed box, have the Reiza handling and engine audio. Before i go copying pasting text and getting extremely frustrated with the game crashing because it inevitably can't find something... can anyone tell me exactly how to do it? If it's possible?

Thanks

You need to rename and match the 2 lines in the engine section and 1 line in the driveline section of the Reiza .HDC file with the .ENG and .GRB file names of the JCW ones.

Example...
Open the .HDC file of Reiza and scroll down to [ENGINE]
(let's say the .ENG file name of the 5 gearbox is named Reiza5gearbox.ENG and the .ENG file name of the 6 gearbox is named JCW6gearbox.ENG)
You should see these 2 lines :
Normal=Reiza5gearbox
RestrictorPlate=Reiza5gearbox

Replace both "Reiza5gearbox" with the .ENG file name of the JCW one which is JCW6gearbox.

Now still in the .HDC file, below the [ENGINE] section you should find the [DRIVELINE] section. Look for the line named "GearFile=" and same as the engine section, replace the name of the .GRB file with the one of the 6 gearbox and this time add the extension of the file name type which is .GRB. Save the .HDC file. Once you've done those 2 sections, copy paste the .ENG and .GRB files of the JCW ones inside the Reiza mod folder.

That's it, now Reiza has engine and gearbox of JCW. Anymore CTD, add .ENG extensions to both [ENGINE] section lines.

Thanks for the reply.

That's actually something i had tried before posting but was getting CTD. However, "Anymore CTD, add .ENG extensions to both [ENGINE] section lines." has solved it. Thanks for that!!!! I tried that and it works.Very Happy Very Happy Very Happy

I also copied/paste the JCW gear settings 1-6 into the Reiza .hdc have done some test laps and it drives fantastic!

One issue. It now has the engine sounds of the JWC.
In the .car file is has the Reiza .aud which i prefer, any ideas why it's using the JCW engine sounds? And what can i do to change that apart from the .car file?

Thanks for the help.

Engine sound is changeable in the .CAR file. If Reiza has a .AUD file and the file name is entered in the .CAR file then the Reiza one is suppose to work.

It's a good idea to check the clutchtorque line in the .hdc too.  If they are different, change the value to the hdc for the engine/gearbox you are replacing it with.
