Does anyone else have issues with the SLS crashing GTR2? Did a fresh install of the game to check there aren't any conflicts with older version of the EEC pack

I'm currently updating the following cars with some new features and bugfixes:

Lambo FL2 - hoddpin fix. Carbon Update+Fixes...
Mercdes SLS - Adding Bodymask-fetaure, Specmask fix for silver rims....

Maybe Audi R8 Ultra will follow.

So keep an eye on this if you paint those cars, you may need to do update some files (mostly template stuff) and settings later, but nothing serious. geek

Hi I'M trying to paint the EEC GT3 BMW Z4E89, when I go into the game to view my paint the car has no shine to it. My main color on the car is gray and it looks flat like primer, can this be fixed? Thanks for a wonderful mod.

Can you show a pic aswell? What settings you are running and what genstring do you use for your planned skin? Maybe there is a combo which causes that issue.

I save my paints the same way and only the BMW has this problem. DDS file DXT5 ARGB 8bpp interpolated alpha generate mips 12 blackman filtering.

Had the same problem on the rear wing with my BSS version of the skin. It seems that the gurney flap isn't paintable, because on the template I painted as far to the back as possible but the stripe ended up just a bit before it. I decided to leave it. About the other two things I'm not sure...

Chad Fisher,

In GTR2 the "DDS" files of the cars must have the following properties:

- Body1: Save on DTX1 (No Alpha).

- Windows, Badges: Save on DTX5 (Interpolated Alpha).

ps: When saving files "DDS" make sure the Mipmap Filtering is set to "Blackman" for better quality, and always create mipmaps 6 mipmaps for all textures of the cars.  

Another problem that can occur is that converts some cars may have some other games materials with different configurations GTR2, for example:

In GTR2 in the editing of materials, "body1" files should be like this:

- "Cube Map" must be enabled.
- "Emv Map" add the the texture "ëmap_paint.dds".
- "Mult Map" must be marked "<None>".
- "Blend" choose "Specular Grayscale".

The "Cub Map" option must be enabled, if not the paintings will appear dull, as if it were paint with matte paint.

Be sure to check it to see if this is your problem.

Thanks LeeJr for the imfo, it's very helpful. One question how do I check for these files.

In GTR2 in the editing of materials, "body1" files should be like this:

- "Cube Map" must be enabled.
- "Emv Map" add the the texture "ëmap_paint.dds".
- "Mult Map" must be marked "<None>".
- "Blend" choose "Specular Grayscale".

The only program I have is Photoshop and GEditor and it doesn't show any of these, thanks again. thumps up

You can view this information using the program "3DSimED" (http://www.sim-garage.co.uk/).

It is a program in 3DS Max style, only much more simple, besides you view the model, you can make changes, add parts, etc. With it you cosegue verify the information that I have spoken concerning the painting "body1". Smile

I think the 3DSimED is now in version 3.0, but I recommend you check the version 1.18a, despite being older, pretty much does the same thing, and more simply for those not familiar with. 3D. thumps up

Thanks for your response LeeJr but that program is way over my head, I'M still figuring out skinning lol! I would assume the mod maker did all that already, but if not I can't change anything and I will play the mod as it is, again thanks for your help. Oh and do you save your dds file as 2d texture scratch

You won't need to reedit any files 3D-wise. Seems a different problem. I only want know which car version you use... the normal E89 or E8911? Seems to me that something is wrong generally. Did you tried a different genstring or use a different skin and replace it with your paint (test-wise) to see if it occurs aswell? Then the problem is on the skin itself, which would make me scratch scratch scratch . Please try out and report me your efforts.

OK it's the BMW Z4E89 not the BMW Z4E8911. The BMW Z4E8911 looks fine in the game but the BMW Z4E89 is dull even the default car called test. It must have something to do with that car and not the others because all other default test cars look fine. scratch Thanks basukid

Well if you're doing a new painting on a model that is already in a MOD, MOD and the original paintings are paintings with the normal, the problem is most likely in your PS configuration.

Do the following review the settings in PS I passed my first post on the properties of the files "DDS".

As you know the PS Plugin nVidia need to be able to open the "DDS" files, but you need to change the plugin settings and leave as I went to work properly in GTR2.

In PS see if the saving screen of a DDS file, the plugin options for DDS are as follows:

- Use DXT1 RGB 4 bpp | on alpha >>>> to "Bodys'.
- Use DXT5 ARGB 8 bpp | interpolated alpha >>>> to Transparency (EX: Windows).
- 2D Texture.
- MIP Map Filtering change to "Blackman" (for better quality).
- MIP Map Generation, select the Generate MIP maps option, and the second option and change the number to 6.

Ready is configured to work correctly in GTR2.

I believe that should solve your problem, be sure to check and then notify, OK.   thumps up

PS: Another thing, even if you do not know how to use the 3DSimED program, do not worry, you can only use it to verify that your new picture that you installed in the car is correct, simply that. So you had not had to open the game every time you make any changes to the look of the cars to view.  Smile

Or you can use a program called "GTR2 Car View", as the name says is only to view a car. Much simpler. You can download it on the same link that 3DSimED.  Smile

OK LeeJr that's what I have my settings at and after I save it and go into the game it looks like flat, no shine. I have my graphics on full and it doesn't matter what time of day or if it's sunny or raining. Maybe it's my computer is anyone else having this problem? scratch

I have painted 2 cars so far for the EEC GT3 base mod v3.0. One for the Ginetta G55 and one for the Aston Martin V12 Vantage. Both of those cars look great in game plenty of shine to the body, the problem for me is the BMW Z4E89 only. I used the test car file for my car, I change the name to 15013G_BMW_Z4E89 and the only genstring I changed was the rims and tires everything else I left the same.

Ok, I get it ...

What may have happened is that at some point the Z4E89 test file that you are using had been changed without you have noticed (may have been caused by you or it could already be experiencing this problem), since as yourself commented other paintings that are made perfect. Smile

This means that your plugin settings in PS are correct. thumps up

Do the following apply paint that you did in the Z4, but do not change anything else, not even change the original genstring. If possible or the model name, make a backup of the original car and save your painting with the same name as the original MOD, and see what happens. Wink

If you stay perfect, the error is on changing the name or the genstring values, continue dull the error is in the Z4 test file. Sad

OK LeeJr I used GEditor and opened and saved the default DDS BMW_Z4E89_BODY1. I imported my DDS file and named it the same BMW_Z4E89_BODY1 and did not change anything in the car file no genstring or re-naming of anything. The test car with my paint on it was still flat lol!  thanks for helping me out LeeJr, I will play the mod as is. drive

Mercedes Benz SLS AMG Basemod Update 3.1 by Basukid

Unzip the content into your XX:\GTR2\GameData\Teams\EEC GT3 directory and let the Mercedes Benz SLS AMG Folder overwrite. It contains only the updated files.

Attention to all painters: Updated templates for Body2 are included (only needed for spitter painting).

-Added Bodymask Option in Pos. 7 of genstring based on Divxx-modification. Now it's possible to make seperate maskfiles for every car.
-updated specmapsettings for the silver rims
-updated Carbonbase Body2-Texture (rescaled)

-Fixed the LOB-Chassis Mapping Issue by replacing it with the LOD-A file till I find a better way. Seems LOD B wasn't developed enough originally and not further updated by PATR10T.

-Includes Divxx 2014 BF Spa24h Skins adapted from intercitykills skins for PCARS to show the working specmaps. Credits to both for their work. DivXX created the fabulous specmaps for the skins which was my base of this update. Great work mate. If you are using Divxx original package please remove it completely (including the 2014 BES BF Racing Folder before applying my update. All stuff is included and all doubled files are not used anymore.

Well, I assume then that this test file should be with any changes and eventually causes it, really is very hard we try to solve this problem on the internet, he he ... Ideally I be working with him to try to solve these errors.  Neutral

Create, modify MODs is very tasty, but sometimes we want to pull your hair with the problems that arise, he he ...  lol!

Anyway, good fun with the MOD.  thumbs
